The 6 Daughters of Matariki

In class we had a task to do for our reading follow ups. It was to make a DLO about the 6 daughters of Matariki. We did some research indepently and we created our DLO's. The 6 daughters names were Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, Waipunarangi, Waiti and Waita and Ururangi. They are the 6 daughters of Matariki.

In our DLO's we had to add little symbols that represent the 6 daughters. We also had to write what we are reminded of when we see their star shining.

I created a slideshow and tried to make it simple but also attractive to read.
We had to post this slideshow by Friday and I have finished it.

What is the Best Animal in the World

In class we were learning how to write Explanation writing. Our Walt was WALT write and structure explanation writing. We had a student teacher and his name was Mr Lee. He taught us the different things about how to write Explanation writing. We wrote a paragraph about What you think the best animal in the world is to you, and I wrote about 2 animals. What I found difficult about Explanation writing was how it had to start. It was difficult because you had to start with the topic but it was quite hard for me to come up with a starting sentence.

In our writing we had to set it out as a strusture. SEER was the structure, it stands for Starting sentence, Explanation, Examples and Relavance. It was the order we had to write in but make the examples be about the explanation.

This is what I wrote:

My favourite animal is the Huskies. I like huskies because they are like wolves

and they are cute. For example they are like wolves because they have a

lot of fur and sometimes they are harsh but mostly they just want to play.

Another example is that huskies can grow very big and also they know how

to keep themselves protected. Also huskies have very good listening and they

are very fast too. Another example is Female huskies can grow up to 50 - 56 cm,

which means their height. Male huskies can grow to 54 - 60 cm, also their

height. Huskies are not related to wolves but some people might think they

are but they are not. Huskies are just dogs.

My other favourite animal is dogs. Dogs can be very helpful with things

and people. For example if there was a blind person trying to cross the road

while the cars were still going, if a dog was trained to lead blind people it would

really help the blind people because the dogs could see where they are going

and the dog would know where to go. Another example is that sometimes dogs

are very gentle with you when they see someone sad. They know what their

owner is feeling so try to make them feel happy or they can also calm them down. To conclude dogs are the best animals to get help from.

Mr Lee was in class for six weeks. Last week was his last week and then he wouldn't be in class. It was fun having him teach us and also it was fun because he was usually teaching and he did work for us that were just right for us.

They're, Their and There

Walt identify and use homonyms correctly. 

In class we have been learning the differences of three words. They all sound the same but are totally different from each other. The words are They're, Their and There. 

Our task was to make a poster about the three words and teach others the difference. We had to explain  what all of the words mean.

Interview on Miss Honey and Miss Trunchbull

1: Miss Honey, what did you think when Matilda said that she taught herself?

Miss Honey: Relieved that someone knows their time tables.

Evidence: Miss Honey looked at the tiny girl and said “Wonderful”

2:Miss Honey,  what did you think when Matilda answered the question so fast?

Miss Honey: Amazed and so happy.

Evidence: Miss Honey Gazed at  Matilda with absolute amazement.

3: Miss Honey, who did you think Matilda’s parents were?

Miss Honey: That they were really wonderful parents.

Evidence: Matilda is a very lucky girl. She has wonderful parents.

4: Miss Honey, when Matilda read out the whole entire sentence, what did you think?

Miss Honey: I thought that she was a very good little girl.

Evidence: “ That is very good indeed”  Miss Honey said

5: Miss Honey,  how did you feel when Miss Trunchbull wouldn’t allow Matilda to
be in the other class?

Miss Honey: I felt like I was being  told off at no reason at all.

Evidence: Miss Honey walked out of the room feeling depressed, but no means defeated.

Miss Trunchbull: I thought she was out of her mind!

Evidence: So you want to get rid of her do you? So you can’t handle her?

2: Miss Trunchbull did you actually believe the father?

Miss Trunchbull: Yes I did.

Evidence: He told me the daughter was a bad lot though.

3: Miss Trunchbull, Did you start hating Matilda right after you spoke to the father?

Miss Trunchbull: Yes, parents do not lie.

Evidence: I’ll bet you it was her who put the stink-bomb underneath my desk this morning!

4: Miss Trunchbull, what do you mean when you said that you wish it would be like the
olden days?

Miss Trunchbull: I just wanted to whip her with the belt!

           Evidence: I wish it would still be the olden days so we could still use the birch and the belt.

5: Miss Trunchbull, Have you been a principal for long?

Miss Trunchbull: Yes I have been a teacher too.

Evidence: I wish it still was the olden days so we could do everything exactly how it was.

The Treaty Of Waitangi

Walt identify the significance and importance of Te Tiriti o Te Waitangi.

Walt create DLO that shows what you have learnt.

Every year we celebrate on February the 6th, because it is Waitangi day. This was the Day when the Maori and the British both signed the Treaty of Waitangi.

In class we have been learning about the treaty of Waitangi. The task was to create a DLO and to read through some articles to see what it is about. 

I have made a slidshow with all the things that I have learned.

All About Me 2019

Walt use Google Drawings to create drawing about me.
We had to include our Favourite animal, Favourite food and a picture of ourselves. I just put a smiley face because there was no other picture of me and I tried drawing myself but it didn't really work out how I thought it was going to be. It was hard when I was drawing the dog because some parts would work and some parts didn't really work, also the eyes and nose were both two small and so I used some shapes to help me with.

Matilda Work

Walt use prior knowledge and information from the text to interpret different themes in the text. In class we have been doing some litracy work and the groups are: Charlies, Sophies, Dannies and The Matilda's. I am in the Matilda group and we had to read three chapters of the Matilda book. Then we had to make a copy of a slideshow. The slidshow was about the chapters that we read. We had to write about what happened in the story.  Here Is My Slideshow:
