Koru's

Kia Ora! In class for topic we have been researching about Koru's. We have been gathering this information and putting it all together.

Here is what I found:

Koru's are used to represent creations because of the way it was shaped in a circular way. The Koru design is also used for decorations, it could be used for tatoos, Maori Art and carvings. The Word 'Koru' means 'Loop' in english. It represents new life and growth, it means strength and peace. Many people believe that Koru means to have a fresh start and new life. Koru's are a symbol to new life, growth and strength.

Kowhaiwhai patterns are used to help tell a story. Kowhaiwhai patterns can sometimes be seen in a Marae, including Korus. The colours on a kowhaiwhai are Red, White and Black.

Venn Diagram

Kia Ora!

Today I'm going to tell you about the work that we have been learning. This term our topic is based on pirates. So we have searched about the different jobs of piracy.  Then we had to make our own Venn Diagram, we had to put some jobs of the pirates in the Land section and some on the Sea. But when you think it's both, put it in the middle! For example, the job Captain is like a Land and Sea job, you put it in the both section!

If you were a Pirate, what job would you be?

I think I would be a Boatswain. I want to be a Boatswain because I get respected and I get fed well.
Here is my Venn Diagram!
