Saint Vincent De Paul

 Malo Lei Lei!

This week for RE we have been given tasks about St Vincent De Paul. Did you know that Vincent was captured by Pirates?

He was on a boat back home because he had recently been on his way to sell some property that he had recieved. He was captured by 2 pirates while travelling, they took him to Tunis in Northen Africa. He was a slave for 2 years because he was sold into slavery. During those 2 years he would pray to God saying that if he was freed he would spend the rest of his life devoting his life to to the service of the poor.

This is a picture of the house that St Vincent was born in:

St. Bernadette Diary Entry

 Kia Ora!

In class we have been learning about St Bernadette. We have been doing research on her about what happened when she saw Mary. We watched videos of what happened and read on different sites about the information about what happened to St. Bernadette. Then we had a sheet that would help us with our digital work. On the sheet there were questions asking when St. Bernadette was born or when she died or her personality and traits and things that would help us with our diary entry or news paper.

For the task we had to create a news paper article or a diary entry. For the newspaper article you had pretend you were interviewing St. Bernadette and write down some facts too. It had to be like you were having a conversation with St. Bernadette about her visions. For the diary entry we had to pretend that we were St. Bernadette and write in a diary entry about what had happened to St. Bernadette. I did the Diary Entry.

This is my Diary Entry:

February 11th, 1858

Today, I had a vision of a lady, she looked young like teenage years and

she was wearing white clothing with a blue ribbon tied around her waist

with gold roses on both her feet.. When I saw her she didn’t say anything,

I started to pray the rosary as she joined me. My sister and friend were

getting wood and when they were finished I asked them if they saw anything

and they both said no. I told them what I saw and they promised to not tell anyone.

The next day there were newspapers with my name on them saying what I had seen.

My aunt took me back to the grotto, telling me to make sure the lady I saw in my

visions told me her name. There were more people there that time, they all watched

as I prayed the Rosary. She appeared, I pointed to where she was and nobody

saw anything. “There is no need to write down what I have to say,” she said.

She asked me if I would do her a favour and come back to this place for 14 days.

I told her with my parents permission I will do so. That same night my parents

gave me permission to go back to the grotto. I prayed the Our Father as everyone

did the same.

“Dear Lady, Would you be so kind to tell me your name” I repeated 2 more times.

The last day I asked her what her name was, she then answered,

“I am the Immaculate Conception.”

Thank you for coming to this blog! :)

Easter Triduum

 Kia Ora!

In class we have been learning about holy week and the easter triduum. I am going to be sharing my art work with you all. For our task we had to write down what we knew about holy week on a padlet. For our task we had to draw something that was related to holy week. This task was very fun and not that easy to do. These pictures are combined so that when you look from one angle you see one picture and when you look from a different angle you see a different picture.

This is my drawing:

Sacraments

Malo e lelei!

For RE we have been learning about the different Sacraments. Sacraments of Initiation, Sacraments of Healing and Sacraments of Commitment. We had different tasks for each of these Sacraments. The Sacraments of Healing were Reconcilitiation and Anointing of the Sick. The Sacraments of Initiation are Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. The Sacraments of Commitment are Marrige and Holy Orders.

For each topic there were different tasks. The task for the Sacraments of Initiation was to make a DLO teaching others about the sacraments of intiation. The task for the sacraments of the healing was to make a picture or drawing that shows us the grace we get through each of these sacraments.  The last task for the sacraments of commitment was to write how through taking out the responsibility in vocations, and how priest and ministers are an example, bishops and things like that.

Here are my posters:

Holy orders is a sacrament that you have to be responsible for. It is when you are becoming a Priest. Being a priest is not easy, you have to make sure that what you say and do are easy for the people watching and listening to understand. You also have to be responsible for your actions even when no one is watching.

Once you have commited to something you take responsibility for what you have commited to. Commiting to something is like saying that you are going to do something, so you will get it done. Priests and Ministers commit to being what they are, and they do not fall back and give up. Holy Orders and Marriage are things that you commit to.

I put the words from the newspaper in here because it wouldn't let me post it.

Pope Inquiry

 Kia Ora!

In class we have been doing these Key Idea tasks. For Key Idea 6, the task was to make an Pope Inquiry. There were different things that we could choose. Like Important events in the life of Pope Francis, Popes of the 21st Century, The Pope’s Home - The Vatican, An Encyclical written by the Pope, or Pick your own topic. I chose to do the Important events in the life of Pope Francis.

For this task that I chose, I had to search the important events that happened in Pope Francis' life and ask a question of what the events were. With the questions we had, we had to answer them.

With the second question you had to ask why/how these events were happening. I chose why these events were happening and answered them.

On the last slide I asked a question that can be debatable. I asked some friends the question and they gave me their anwers. I wrote their answers down.

Here is my Inquiry:

The Holy Spirit

There is a picture that represents the holy spirit. It is of a family or birds and they are all taking care of each other. I can be the image of the holy spirit by taking care of others and caring for them, and making them feel like they are safe and not in any danger. I can also be that image for others in their lives by being a good friend and making sure they are ok.

The picture of the birds where the mother was feeding the baby birds shows the holy spirit by that mother bird being a loving parent. Being a loving parent is representing the holy spirit by taking care of your kids and showing kindness and compassion. A loving parent is someone who cares for their kids and wants them to be happy, that is showing the holy spirit, by doing what Jesus would do.

I can show the holy spirit by showing, goodness, joy and being peaceful, patience and showing the fruits of the spirit.

This is the picture and the verse that we had to think of what would be a good picture to draw for the holy spirit. We did this is buddies and my buddy was Lauren. She drew the picture and I coloured in. The verse was Psalm 103:13.

How To Become More Like Jesus

Kia ora!

For our R.E task we had to make a DLO. The DLO is about how to become more like Jesus.

We could use:
- Slideshow
- Biteable
- Piktochart
- Prezi

I used biteable to make this because it was easy to write in and it was just simple and fun. Also because its the one site that mostly is not laggy.

Become more like Jesus on Biteable.

Different Roles

In class for R.E we have been talking about what different roles we do at home, on any day. I did mine on a school day. We had to make a table and then write the times of the day and what ourselves, siblings and parents do. We could make it in any DLO, so I made mine in a googe drawings. I added in all the things I do and all the things that happen at home. I also put the times of the day that are usually used while I'm at home.

So we had to show what roles we do. I haven't added some in but sometimes I always have to clean my room and do the dishes. This is what my DLO looks like:

Saint Maximillian Kolbe

We have been learning about Saint Maximillian Kolbe and Father Francis. There were videos and readings that we could learn from. I read the passage and it was kind of hard to understand but I got it in the end. In class we had to choose who (out of the two we learned about) we wanted to make a DLO about. I chose to make it about Saint Maximillian Kolbe.

When we got started on our DLO's I was using piktochart but then we also learned about what SISIMO meant. Sound, Sight and Motion.

When I tried voki at first, it was kind of fustrating because sometimes your work wasn't there so you had to start again. So I just stuck with making a piktochart.

Here is the piktochart:

Resolution for Christmas

For religious education in class we have been learning about what we think a resolution to christmas is. We had to write a bible verse or a quote into a google drawing and decorate it. Some of the students in my class chose to do their own bible verse. I got this one off google. I decorated it like it was christmas already.

Here is my google drawing:

My Symbol for the Eucharist

In class we have been doing some art. This art is related to God. We could search up some symbols but they have to be your own artwork and not other peoples work. I chose to draw a wine cup with a cross on it and a piece of bread because it had to be about the Eucharist. We also had to write a verse that was related to what the picture was about.
I found it hard to draw the symbols because I had to keep on starting again.

Here is my symbol:

My Psalms

In class we have prayers in the mornings. Our teacher was on prayers for the first 2 weeks and we would bring our chromebooks down to the mat and Mrs Lee would read out a verse from the bible. With those verses we would choose a line or two from those verses and write them into these charts for each day of the week. On friday we would gather them up together and read them out.
When we were doing this I felt happy. I enjoyed writing down what stood out to me the most.
I am going to be adding to this slideshow each week.

Here is my DLO:

Choices

Walt identify ideas when making choices

In class we have been learning about making right choices and do what is right. So we had to make a DLO and write down what was right and wrong. We had to write what Jesus would do and then we wrote down how to make a good choice.

Tika Pono Aroha

Walt identify ideas to think about when making choices.
In class we have been learning about what choices are right and who made the right choice. We watched a video and it was about two brothers and their father. You will find out the rest. We had to make a DLO of how did they each show tika pono and aroha. Tika means Justice. Justice is always doing what is right. Pono means Truthful. Truthful means that you are always doing what is Tika. Aroha means love and compassion. Love and Compassion means to love and care.

Rosary Beads

Walt demonstrate how to pray a decade of the rosary. In class we are learning how to pray the rosary because October is the month of Mary. We have been making DLO's of the rosary beads they show you what to pray when you get to one colour. The DLO's are guides for people that don't know how to pray the rosary. I haven't finished yet, but I will finish it.
