The New Church

Today on October 17th 2018, the whole school had mass in the new church. The church started being built from last year on term 4 at the end of the term. So we all waited for a really long time for the church to be built but the workers did a really great job with the church. So my class room 4 wrote a google doc and it was all about the new church. So here is my piece of writing:

New Church

When We were standing outside the church ready to go in I felt excited because when I looked through the doors it looked very nice. Also on the outside of the church it was all white and a little navy blue. When I walked in I saw pictures and I also saw a little room that had cupboards. We walked further and I saw this big bronze bowl filled with holy water. Then I saw Mr. Norman telling us to use our right hand and put your hand into the water and then you had to do the Sign Of The Cross. I also saw two statues, when I saw them I thought that they were only statues of Mary but the other statue was of our Saint (St. Bernadette.).

I thought the the church was so big. There was the seats on each side of the church. On the right side at the back the choir was all sitting there with little booklets. On the right side again in the front there was three classes sitting down, but at the very front on the right side there was students sitting there waiting to read their prayers. On the left side that was where me and my class were sitting with two other classes. I also saw that in the middle of the church in the very front there was a statue hanging from these poles and it was of Jesus on the cross.

The church was warm, it looked so nice the way that it was decorated. On the top of the building there is a red cross and a black ceiling. We sang one song called One Faith, One Hope. On the walls there was a yellow background and then there was little brown squares with pictures on them and just below there was a brown tree. Father Palo said that Jesus is the vines and we are all the branches. The seats were wooden seats that were smooth you could slide on them. The carpet was kind of itchy. The church was absolutely big and kind of small.

The constructors started building the church at the end of term four last year. So at the start of this year the whole school sat under the shades for prayer assembly, then it was winter so the prayer assembly were split into two prayer assemblies. So there was a Senior prayer assembly and a Junior prayer assembly, Senior prayers were in room six and junior prayers were in the library. But today everyone has gone to church, so we don’t have to go to different prayer assemblies.
