Christmas

In class we got to do any writing that we have learnt this year. This is my second story and it is a descriptive piece of writing. It might get confusing in this story but, not for me. This story is a story that has a second part to it. It will be continued, as they all say. I'll add the story in so that you can read it to yourself. I'll post the second part over the holidays.

Christmas


On Christmas Eve everyone was getting their
presents ready. I was waiting for my present.
I didn’t go out to look for a present because
I didn’t know who to give a present to. 


Maybe I could give it to my parents. They would like a
present very much, but what present? I sat down on
the couch thinking of what my parents like. My dad likes
ties but that’s boring, and my mum likes dresses but she has
a lot. Maybe I'll get them some blankets for them. 


I went to the shop, and I saw these really nice blankets.
They were just right for mum and dad. They were also red
and green, the colours of christmas. My parents loved those colours.


I payed for the blankets now I just need to wrap the blankets.
Or maybe I could just tie a bow around each blanket. It was hard
to think of what to do on christmas. There were so many options.    


I didn’t believe in santa. He never gave me what I wished for. I would
write letters but never get what I wrote. Once I put my letter on the table,
with the milk and cookies and it flew away so I guess that's what always happened.     


I was at home now. Wrapping my present. I couldn’t find a ribbon so
now i’m wrapping it. I wrote mum and dad on each of the presents. I went to
the kitchen and then I heard a knock on the door.


It was my parents. I looked under the christmas tree and saw that only
my gifts were there. I quickly picked the gifts up and took them up to
my room. Then I came back downstairs and opened the door
for them. “What took you so long?” My mum asked as she came
in. She had some shopping bags, I tried to look into them and see
what it was but she noticed and pulled the bags away.


I went up to my room. I closed the door and stared at the gifts. They
looked like they were fragile but they weren't. The blankets were put into
boxes so that I could wrap the wrappers around properly.


It was getting dark and I think I heard my dad snoring. I went downstairs
with my presents and put them under the tree. I saw two other presents
for me too. I heard a loud thump so I quickly ran up to my room and closed the door. 


Everyone was sleeping. I could hear someone walking through the house.
I opened my bedroom door and went downstairs. I saw 6 presents under the
tree now. I think it was…. Santa

Market Day Reflection

We had our market day and it was really fun. Everyone was busy in my class because a lot of people were buying the waffles and spiders. Our teacher counted up our money, we did good but the profit was small. The profit was a good price for what we were doing for our class treat.

On market day it was really fun. Everyone was walking around looking at some stuff. I was at the briquettes stand with three other girls. People came to look at the briquttes but didn't really buy it. We took turns leaving the stand and coming back. We did pretty good with the waffles and the spiders. They sold a lot of each. It was really fun, even though most of the time I was standing at the stand, I still had fun. There was still a lot more briquettes left, but some people bought some. When others took too long on their time to look we would have to look for them and tell them it was their turn.

The kiwi can leaders were being throwed at with wet water sponges. There were some people throwing really hard at the kiwi can leaders.

Biteable about Respect


Respect For Others on Biteable.

In our class we all made a biteable about respect. We did this because there has been a lot of problems in our class and so our teacher gave us a task and that was to make a biteable about how we can show respect.

It doesn't take that long to make this video. This was my first time ever using biteable. It was hard at first because I wasn't on the right biteble, so I had to restart it again.

Snakes & Ladders

For our Synthesis task this week, it was to make a snakes & ladders game about the story we have read. It is about how kids and aliens were fighting against each other in the story. My rules to this game can be different to any other snakes and ladders. I drew the whole snakes and ladders thing. I'll show you a picture but it might be blury. There are only 70 boxes.

Join the Summer Learning Journey!

The summer learning journey is all about blogging. There is a site that shows you all the information about what the Summer Learning Journey is. You can get points for blogging about what the activity is. You can also get points for commenting on others posts about the SLJ. The more you blog, the more points you will get.

Emma, the lady teaching about the slj, has given us a challenge. We had to make an advertising poster or something advertising about joining the SLJ. We could use anything to make this poster. I used canva for this. I tried to fit all the information into two text boxes. I also added in the Summer Learning Journey logo.

Gus Sinaumea Illustrator Synthesis

For our synthesis task we had to draw what we see and draw something that we have wrote about. I drew a christmas tree and a person. I wrote a story about like it was when a girl could't figure out what to get for her parents so she made christmas a wonderful time by doing something special. I drew some presents under the tree too. It was hard drawing the person and fun colouing in.

Market Day Posters

In class we have been planning for Market Day. Market day is when all the classes in our school plan things to sell for their class. This money that each class earns goes to their own classes and they have a class treat with that money. 
We are selling Briquettes, Waffles, we also are doing a Water thing where you throw sponges to the kiwi can leaders. There is also going to be a pie face game. Our teacher is also going to be part of this and she has decided that she will have a jar of lollies and let people guess how much lollies were in the jar.
I made a poster about selling the briquettes. The picture at the bottom of the poster is what our briquettes will look like. It might be blury.

Our market day starts at 2pm - 4pm. This will be on Friday 6th of December.

This will be at St. Bernadettes School Hornby, Hei Hei road 74.

Resolution for Christmas

For religious education in class we have been learning about what we think a resolution to christmas is. We had to write a bible verse or a quote into a google drawing and decorate it. Some of the students in my class chose to do their own bible verse. I got this one off google. I decorated it like it was christmas already.

Acrostic Poem Christmas

In class we have learnt a lot of different types of writings. We got to pick any writing we know that we have learnt and wirte about it. I chose acrostic poem. Acrostic poems are quite hard for me but I chose to do it to the word Christmas.

Running around having fun.
In a house filled with joy.
Sun shining as we all go out and play.
Thankful that we got to see family.
Meeting up with your family.
A time to spend with family.

The Stag

For reading this week we have a story called The Stag. We had a task that was to make a trap for the stag without having to kill it by shooting it. My idea was to make a big hole big enough for the stag and when it falls into the hole it will make a  noise to attract help then you will know that my plan has worked.

The Truth Of Hansel and Gretel

Last Friday Rooms 4, 5 and 6 got to go and watch this Ballet performance. It was about Hansel and Gretel. The ballet was kind of different to what we thought it would be like. When we came back to school we talked about how it was different. The next day we wrote a story to Hansel and Gretel but with a twist. We got to make it how we wanted. 

In my story I added an older brother to the story. Even though there isn't an older brother I added him in. My story isn't finished yet but I am posting it today.

Here is my Writng:

Gretel’s Point of view
After our parents sent me and Hansel to our rooms I was really hungry. I went downstairs to get some bread. I grabbed a random sauce to eat with it. 
I was feeling a little tired after I ate the bread. I was starting to fall asleep suddenly I heard someone run into the house. 
I went to check and I saw my dad. He asked if I ate the last bread and I said yes. He looked really mad. I ran up to my room and locked the door. 
I went to my bed and looked through the window. It was really dark so I could see my reflection in the window. I saw red eyes. I went to my mirror and my eyes were red. Like my pupils changed from green to red. 
I went to sleep so that I could forget this ever happened.

Hansel’s Point of view
It was the next morning. I went to the Pancake centre and Gretel came with me. I had a lot of cash with me. I am kind of rich. 
Gretel saw one of her friends and she went to catch up with her. I bought the pancakes while they were talking.
When I was eating my pancake I saw that Gretelsl’s eyes were red. I didn’t bother to ask why it was red I just kept on eating. 
After awhile Gretel went to grab the syrup. I asked her if I could have some and she spilled the syrup on my head on purpose. She started laughing. I was mad. “You can find your own way home!” I yelled at her.
Everyone was staring as I walked to wipe the syrup off my head. I was really annoyed. She did that in front of a lot of people and when she did it she said “Oops” and then laughed.

Dads Point of view
I asked Gretel if she ate that last bread because I bought that from the ice cream shop. The lady that gave it to me for free said that they sell a lot of bread but they were sold out. I never saw any bread when I walked in there everyday. I knew she was lying. But she looked like a really evil witch, so I took the bread. I was hoping that no one would eat it because it came in a packet that said ‘Toxic’
But Gretel ate it. I could see that her eyes were red and she was getting mean. 
Hansel even told me about what she did to him. It was really mean of what she did. I better let their older brother know.

Luke’s Point of view (Older Brother)
Dad just told me about what Gretel did. I said that she always does that, but dad didn’t agree. I think she was just acting like that since she is the youngest and the only girl. She once told me that she will run away soon. I was thinking that she just wants brothers that are not annoying and they actually help her for once, but no. 
I didn’t really see Gretel today. Maybe she actually did run away. I don’t feel bad.

Gretel’s Point of view
I didn’t know how to get home. My friend left before Hansel and then Hansel left. I walked to the forest. I saw this gingerbread house and I went inside. Since I needed help, I thought it would be a good idea to go inside. 
There was a lady inside she was dancing. I asked her if she could take me home. “You can stay with me for a bit.” She said
I didn’t want to stay with her. I was about to walk out the door when she brought in some food. 
I decided to change my mind and stay behind. I was full. I fell asleep. I woke up and I was in ratty clothes. It was gross. It had holes in it. Before I went to sleep I had better clothes than this. 

Hansels Point of view
I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth. Then I heard Lukes voice. He started banging on the bathroom door. “Hurry up. You're not the only one living here” He said
I told him to wait or to go use the other bathroom. But he didn’t. He said Dad was using it but Dad wasn’t home. 
He kept on banging on the door. It was so annoying. I wish my step-mum never adopted him. 
She adopted him before my dad and her met. Ever since he has been the oldest. 
My step-mother is kind of evil. She yelled at me when dad told me to go get some bread. I came back with no bread because they were sold out. I also once overheard her talking to dad about abandoning us in a forest. Dad didn’t say anything. He knew that we needed him. 

Step-Mother’s Point of view
Hansel and Gretel don’t very like me that much. They think that my favourite child is Luke just because I adopted him and I have lived with him much longer than I have with them.
I didn’t really see Gretel today. She probably is hanging out with her friends. Anyways I want to make sure that Gretel and Hansel get good sleep.

Gretel’s Point of view
I tried finding a way out. Suddenly something red catches my eye. I turn around and see the lady that fed me. I really just want to go home. 
I see a door. I run to it quickly and pass the lady. I open the door. It leads back to my home. 
I run through into my house so happy. But then I find out no one is home. I go upstairs and see that I’m all alone. I wondered why I would be home alone because it’s the middle of the night and Hansel should already be home.
I run back to the door I came from, but I don’t see it. It was right there. Then I knew this was a trap. That evil lady wanted to distract my family so that she can cook them. 
I knew her plan. Her plan was to split my family up and get them to all search for me. 
I saw the front door, so I opened it. It led to the pancake centre. 

I shouldn’t have spilled that syrup on Hansel’s head. I don’t know what I was thinking.

Descriptive Writing Prompts

In class we have been doing some descriptive writing. We had to make a copy of this slideshow and it was with pictures. We had to describe the pictures that were on the slideshow. I finished doing that today. We had to describe the pictures with four sentences with a topic out of these topics. You will know what topics they are once you read them. The 2 slide was a example of what sentences we have to write.

Flower Printing

In class we have been printmaking. Printmaking is when you have ink and you roll it against a picture that is overlapped that you know it is overlapped. What I mean overlapped is when you can feel how the pieces of your picture on top of each other. So we made the pictures first and then started printing. We had to do a practice and a Good copy. Here is mine:


The bottom one was my good copy, the top right one was my practice and the top left one was my tile that I used to print with. I did four at first but then ended up doing 6 at the end. What I had fun doing was drawing the flower. What I found hard was to get a lot of ink on my tile. What I found interesting was that it acutally worked.

Big Daddy Task

WALT unpack sentences faster.
Every week I will be posting something from our Reading tasks. This week we have to post about the task we did. We had to choose one of the Synthesis questions. I chose 7. For that task I had to write a paragraph about what I think Big Daddy's point of view. The book that we were reading this week was The Big Jump. I wrote a paragraph of Big Daddy's point of view.

Here is my paragraph:

It was so high. I could see the classes. But what I was really worried about was hitting the pole at the end. I knew that if I cried when I got down I wouldn't be called Big Daddy. People will call me Cry baby. Sandra tries to help but I just grunt. 

The boy behind me is the only one that will know how I was scared. Sandra and the boy start strapping me again, but I didn't really care. 

I went down with this guy and he got hurt bad. I told the others I had to help him come down because they asked why we took forever. I helped him up which was a thank you. He knew that was the only thank you he'll ever get.

Culture and Tradition

In class for intergrated learning (Intergrated learning is a bunch of things all together) we have been learning about culture and traditions. Our first lesson was to write what we think culture and tradition mean. The second lesson was to find out about the national flower of our cultures. My culture is Tonga and the national flower is a Heilala. We had to make a Slideshow explaining about ourselves and about our family, culture and traditions.

My Taonga

In class we have been doing some intergrated learning. For intergrated learning we have been drawing some things that are special to us. Taonga means something that is very precious and very special to you. We got to choose if we wanted to draw on paper or do it digitally. I wanted to do it by hand.
The yellow heart is my friends. The cross is church. The orange thing is a blanket that I've had since I was a baby. The picture is me and my family. The flag is my culture. Those are the things that are the most special things to me.

In class for term four the class started back as normal. My Powtoon

In class we have been using powtoon. We are just getting used to using it because for some people in the class they have just started using powtoon. Powtoon is not that hard to use. But to post it onto our blogs we have to screen castify it because you can't download the video. We had a choice to do it about all the Cerr Values or just one Cerr Value. I chose to do all the Cerr values. It was hard at first but when you use it a lot it gets easier.

Maori Language Week

In class we had a task. It was to complete 3-4 tasks of some of this te reo maori work. I haven't finished my slideshow yet but I will be adding to it and I will be completing my tasks. We don't have to finish all of the task but we do have to finish 4 tasks and we can complete more of those tasks if we have time.

My Infographic

In class lately we have been making infographics about our reading passages. This is a group task that all groups have to do. The passage that my group got this week was How do waterspouts form? We get different passages a week. We looked at an example of a inforgraphic and it gave me a good idea. I don't have that much pictures and I only wrote two of the stages to forming a waterspout because maybe you could guess what happens next.

I enjoyed making the pictures. I found it hard to think of what piece of information I should put in.

Sheep and Ant

In class for writing we got put into groups. This was for a writing activity that we were to do. It was to make a slideshow and we got given a character, settings, problem for our story from our teacher. We had to come up with our own solution. Our problem was that there was an ant that was alergic to trees and the settings was in a jungle. Our characters were an ant and a sheep. I picked the sheep because I couldn't stp thinking of an sheep. We had one slide each to do. There was four people in our group it was Liam, Myself, Tini and Tyler. I got to pick who I wanted in my group and it was Liam. I picked Liam because he had a creative mind.

Spring

In class we had been doing some season writing. We were writing about what our favourite season was. My favourite season is Spring. There are a lot of special things about spring. We also made some pictures on paper with layers. What season do you like the best and why?

Here is my Writing:
There are a lot of other seasons but out of all of them I like
spring the best. Spring is my favourite out of all because it
is a very different season to all the others. Spring
can be both warm and cold which makes you happy. Spring
is also when the trees start blooming and animals are born.
When it is spring the sky is always changing colours that
you never see in other seasons.

I like spring because you can find a lot of trees blooming.
Trees only start blooming in spring. You could never find
any other tree blooming in Summer, Winter or Autumn.
Spring is a time when plants start growing. It is a time
when there are a lot of newborn animals and also it is a
growing time. 

Early in the mornings in the spring, if you look out your window,
there is a beautiful colour in the sky. It usually changes
colours before people are getting up. Also sometimes in
the day if you just look up to the sky you could see this beautiful
colour that is like a pinky colour mixed with black at the bottom.
You can see colours like this in other seasons but in spring there
are a lot of different colours, but with other seasons it usually
just sticks to one or two colours.

Spring is never too hot or too cold. It always has a warm breeze.
It's like there is a certain limit of the weather, whether it is really hot
or really cold. There is a good weather in spring because it's not
too hot and not too cold it's just right and warm. When it comes to
spring you get this good feeling which makes you feel happy,
because you know that it's going to be spring!

In spring you can do a lot of things, like play sports in warm
weather because it’s better than playing in cold weather. Volleyball
is what I would say is a good sport for spring. I think that because
volleyball keeps you working and going so you can move a lot and
also get your heart pumping, also volleyball can be a good way to
make friends. 

Those were the reasons why I like spring. Spring can be
a very popular season, but so can summer. Spring is a
season that is like summer, and autumn is a season like
winter. Spring is like summer because it is a very warm
season. Autumn is like winter because it is kind of cold in
autumn. Spring is a very warm season and mostly the sun
is shining.

We have been doing our shared slideshows lately a lot. There is some people that have not finished their slide but if they are late then they can't fix it anymore. My feedback I got was to make sure that what I write made sence because there was no full stops in one text box so that is what made them confused. I gave feedback on two people and I said if they could just put different information in seperate text boxes so that it makes sense.

Shared Slideshow Week 5

In class for our reading task we have this shared slideshow. This shared slideshow is for our reading group. We had to make an infographic about what we had learnt. My passage was about volcanoes. We had commented on each others slide. My feedback was to check my spelling. I gave some feedback to some other people. I can't remember what I said but it will be there in the slideshow. We only had to comment twice but there was a person that had their post on last so I commented on their one too.

My Symbol for the Eucharist

In class we have been doing some art. This art is related to God. We could search up some symbols but they have to be your own artwork and not other peoples work. I chose to draw a wine cup with a cross on it and a piece of bread because it had to be about the Eucharist. We also had to write a verse that was related to what the picture was about.
I found it hard to draw the symbols because I had to keep on starting again.

Shared Slideshows

In class during our reading time we have this shared slideshow which is for what your group has to do. It is a story web but we do it after we finish our two other activities. We make our story webs on Mindmup. There is three other people in my group. We had to comment on each others work and comment what they could improve on. Sacraments Of Iniatiation

In class we were learning about the Sacraments of Initiation. This was a Religious Education activity. After we learned about the three Sacraments Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist we had to make a slideshow of the things that we know about those Sacraments. This was kind of hard to understand because when I went onto this website it didn't explain that much about the three Sacraments. But now that it is finished I feel good.

Apotrophes

In class we have been learning about apostrophes. We had a task after our learning. It was to create a DLO about apostrophes teaching others about apostrophes. So we had to explain the different places you can use apostrophes in. The hard thing was remembering how to use an apostrophe. I enjoyed the learning part because there was a lot of things that helped me with my apostrophes.

My Psalms

In class we have prayers in the mornings. Our teacher was on prayers for the first 2 weeks and we would bring our chromebooks down to the mat and Mrs Lee would read out a verse from the bible. With those verses we would choose a line or two from those verses and write them into these charts for each day of the week. On friday we would gather them up together and read them out.
When we were doing this I felt happy. I enjoyed writing down what stood out to me the most.

The Llama

In class we have been creating Llamas. We were given the task to create our own Llamas but there was only one thing that had to be on our Llama, it was a party hat, flower crown, or a random crown. Our Llamas had lots of layers. We first had to draw our Llamas and our backgrounds with pencil and crayon only. Then we had to dye the background. After that we painted the Llama and then drew over the face and crowns and party hats with pastel.

We also got to write a story about our Llamas.


Here is my writing and some pictures of Llamas:

“We are going to be creating Llamas.”

There it was. Now I just wanted to get out of this humans mind and
onto the paper. I felt myself on something but I just couldn’t see where
I was. My body was back into the mind. I could feel myself again and
my ears were coming. I really wanted to see but then again my eyes were
not existed on paper yet. I could feel somethingcoming, I just couldn’t see
what it was. That is when I realised it was my other ear. I heard someone saying,
“Does this look awesome or should I start again?” 

I realised they were talking about me. I didn’t want to start again. It would be horrible not being able to see or hear again. 
I liked the way I looked and I didn’t want to change.

My eyes started to open. My mouth was closing (but still coming). I felt like an
angry Llama. But I didn’t want to be an angry Llama. I wanted to be a happy one.
It was too late. I was an angry Llama. My whole body was there. I was angry but
happy inside of me. 

The next day the sky was coming and finally life was coming into the picture. But
for some reason there was still no colour in me. I felt sad that I had no colour. That night
I went to sleep sad. The next day I was becoming life like, but the colours
that were on me were Black and White (I felt sad and gloomy with those colours).
I kind of liked it but all of my fur was covering my face so I really couldn’t see properly.
My face was like that for two whole nights. I couldn’t believe it.

After those two nights I was really happy to have my face back again.
But my face looked like I was bored more than angry. I didn’t really think
about what or why they were doing this to me. I have heard them talking about
imagining what your Llama looked like and then draw the face. But I never had big bulky
eyebrows, I never had an upside down mouth, but it seemed like it had to stay
on there now. I saw some other Llamas but they had no idea that I was there with them.
Sometime later books were on my face. I don’t know why but I was being squashed with
four books. While the books were on my face I read what it said and it said “The Bible”.
I was wondering why The Bibles were on our faces.

The day after that I was up in front of all of these humans. They were saying I like yours

other side of me was one of the Llamas crying. Her creator said that she couldn’t
remember what her face looked like so she made it cry.

My face was ruined by accident but I was just happy to be alive.
